American favorite, Star Wars, is now being translated into another language for people to enjoy. The Hollywood Reporter stated that the 1977 classic will soon be translated into Navajo. Manuelito Wheeler, the director of the Navajo Nation Museum, confirmed the reports.

Wheeler said, “The Navajo language, often uses a description of what a word does to convey meaning so that several English words are needed to produce a translation."

Although this is not the first language that Star Wars has been translated into, it is a momentous occasion. This is among the first major Hollywood films to ever be translated into Navajo. With all of the geek talk and language of its own in the Star Wars movie, the translation is sure to be a difficult one.

The plan is for the Navajo translated Star Wars to be unveiled at a Fourth of July festival in Arizona. Auditions are still being held for the parts of the Navajo voice for Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker, among other characters.

"While we have dubbed many films in the past into a variety of languages, this project ranks among the most significant," said Shana Priesz, a senior director at Deluxe. More information about the auditions can be found in the Navajo Times entertainment section.
