Intended Audience
The Language and Climate conference is for researchers and for anyone who is interested in climate change and the conversations around this topic.
Participants include those from the academe and the scientific community. Activists and anyone interested in the language used for climate change are all welcome to join.
What Can You Expect?
The speaker for the conference is science communicator, author, and climate activist, Alice Bell. She is considered an expert in the language used to describe climate change.
It's not surprising that there is a lack of conversation about climate change. The concepts involved in the conversation are quite abstract, which is very intimidating to a lot of people. When there is a conversation, the language being used often comes loaded with an agenda. This makes word choice in these conversations quite difficult.
As the Director of Communications for the climate action non-profit Possible and author of a new book on the history of the climate crisis, Our Biggest Experiment.
Alice Bell is well-positioned to discuss the language of climate change.
Language and Climate is part of the Language & Series which is made possible by a grant from the Jack, Joseph, and Morton Mandel Foundation.
Organization
The conference will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2022, at 12:00 pm. The conference will feature Alice Bell as one of the event's speakers.
