Intended Audience
The International Conference on Retranslating the Bible and the Qur’an intends to bring together Bible and Qur’an scholars and translators who work on religious scriptures.
What Can You Expect?
The translation of religious texts is an ongoing task. There is always a new version of the Bible being worked on by scholars from all over the world, and there is always a constant demand for new translations of scriptures.
This just means that there is a major need for conversations about translating sacred texts. The Centre for Translation Studies at KU Leuven, in collaboration with United Bible Societies, is hosting a three-day conference that is focused on the topic of retranslating the Bible and the Qur’an. Its aim is to gather Translation Studies scholars and translators working with sacred writings, in particular Biblical and Quranic texts. The conference will hopefully stimulate the discussion between theory and practice.
Participants can expect to have an in-depth discussion about the challenges of translating religious texts.
