NOTE: All participants must pre-qualify to be eligible to attend.
The Court Interpreter Training Institute is an ideal way to prepare for both the oral and written portions of the State [of Arizona] or Federal Court Interpreter Certification Examination, though the actual conference is more of the “pièce de résistance” than a mere conference. CITI is unique in that it is conducted both online and off, with online webinars being conducted throughout the month of June and a two week intensive training period that will be conducted in Tucson, Arizona after the successful completion of the online course work. The live sessions in Arizona will be conducted from the sixth of July until the seventeenth of July, 2020.
Work is the focus during the week but the weekends will be yours to enjoy, though participants may wish to use their time to study some as well. The course outline for the actual classes is going to be intense, and includes the following:
19+ hours of terminology building
13+ hours of simultaneous interpretation
12+ hours of consecutive interpretation
11+ hours of sight translation
6+ hours of ethics and protocol
CITI Topics will include:
Legal procedure
Drugs
Weaponry
Ethics
Protocol
Memory development techniques
Note-taking skills
Test preparation.
Diagnostic pre-testing: June 1-5, 2020
Webinars: Start June 6th
In Tucson: July 6 – 17, 2020
This year, the Court Interpreter Training Institute (CITI) is being held on the The University of Arizona Campus in Tucson, Arizona. The CITI runs Monday through Friday, 8am-5:30pm, so your weekends are your own to study, relax, and explore Tucson. When making your arrangements, please keep in mind that Tucson is HOT in July and plan accordingly. You’ll want sun screen, a water bottle, perhaps a hat.
