CercleS 2022, The Future of Language Education in an Increasingly Digital World: Embracing Change

Intended Audience

The XVII CercleS International Conference 2022 is open to teachers, students, and all relevant stakeholders in language education. The conference will look into the future of language education in a world that is increasingly becoming more and more digital.

What Can You Expect?

The theme for the XVII CercleS International Conference 2022, is “The Future of Language Education in an Increasingly Digital World: Embracing Change”. Those involved in the language education niche are aware of the ever-increasing encroachment of digital technology in the teaching of languages. Hosted by ReCLes.pt, the Association of Language Centres in Higher Education, in Portugal, at ISCAP – The Porto Accounting and Business School, Porto, Portugal, the event seeks to start a discussion among the various stakeholders of the language education field.

Like other fields, language education was met with a challenge in 2020. It is about time to fully embrace the changes that have been brought about by those challenges. It is necessary to find ways to fully integrate the technologies into how language is being taught. The use of new technology in language education also causes changes in the role of educators. These among other things will be discussed during the conference.

Some of the main topics that will be discussed during the conference are:

• Plurilingualism and minority languages
• Translation and terminology management
• Learners and their environment
• Practices for the digital environment
• LSP and teaching methodologies
• Managing change in language centers
• Language policy and politics
• Testing and assessment

September 2022 will also mark the 30th anniversary of the CercleS.
